What Is the Lantern Key?
The Lantern Key is one of three key items you need to unlock Act 4. It replaces the Green Key from the first game. Defeat any elite enemy in Act 1, 2, or 3. After the fight, a screen appears offering the key. Take it. No tricks, no hidden puzzle.
You can only get one key per elite fight. You need all three keys for Act 4. Plan your route to hit at least three elites across the run.

If you don't want to fight the Heart, skip the keys. The Lantern Key replaces a relic reward from the elite. If your build is weak, grabbing the key over a relic can kill your run. Only take it if you are strong enough to survive without that relic.

- Can I get the Lantern Key in Act 4?
- No. Act 4 has no elite fights. Get all keys in Acts 1 through 3.
- Does the Lantern Key replace the Green Key from StS1?
- Yes. Same function, new name. It comes from elite fights.
- What happens if I miss the Lantern Key screen?
- You lose your chance for that elite. Hit another elite later, but you only get one key per fight.
